What is Basswood?

Basswood is a deciduous (they lose their leaves) hardwood grown mostly in the upper Midwest and Appalachia areas of North America. It is known for its straight grain pattern and is used quite extensively in the furniture business. It has been used for years as the underlayment for piano keys and more recently for wood blinds. We use it for two reasons: its grain pattern shows off the beauty of textured painted shutters and it also stains quite well for a more traditional look. Learn more about basswood.

What is your delivery time?

We maintain an 8 week delivery schedule from the day we receive your deposit and signed contract.  Stained shutters and full louvered arches will take up to 10 weeks to deliver.

How are the shutters painted?

The shutters panels are base-coated, then carefully sanded. Next, the top coats are applied using a premium acrylic resin-based paint from Sherwin-Williams. They are the leaders in acrylic resin technology. We know you will be pleased with the finished product.

What are the advantages of buying shutters from a licensed contractor?

When a homeowner is having work done to their property, they want to be assured that the work will be done properly. Using a licensed contractor is one important way to do that. The AZ Registrar of Contractors works on your behalf to resolve any disputes that arise when work is done to your home. They can, and do, put a hold on a contractor's license until issues are resolved to the satisfaction of the homeowner.

What is covered in the "Lifetime Warranty"?

All of the wood in the shutters and the workmanship to manufacture the shutters are covered for "Life", granted to the original purchaser. This covers warping, cracking, and splitting. The paint finish carries a five year warranty against defects. This warranty does not cover damage caused by neglect or abuse (i.e. children kicking soccer balls against the shutters, damage from pets, etc.) nor will it cover imperfections due to the house settling causing the panels to no longer align properly. Water or rain damage is also not covered; this is visible damage near the bottom of the panels and the bottom frame.

How much will shutters cost?

Shutter prices vary depending on your particular setup. A qualified representative will come to your home, make precise measurements, and discuss options with you.

What are acceptable terms of payment?

We accept cash, check and most major credit cards. For new home buyers, another method is mortgage inclusion. Your lender can include shutters in your mortgage. You will need to check with your lender to find out how their system works, but we have worked with many of the lenders in the Valley. In most cases, you are not required to front any deposits and the bill is funded through the escrow agent at closing. Check this option out!
